Welcome to the Enfield Ghosts site, the name may sound a little bit misleading, then it is appropriate that the welcome blog should go some way to explain and clear up what may appear to be any misunderstanding.

What is Enfield Ghosts? The site supports the local project that promotes aims to share stories that come from within the entire London borough of Enfield. The rich history contain in the wider borough that dates back to the Doomsday book, has the potential to be missed and then worse, lost forever. The EG project will share and store a library of stories and experiences for generations to come. This not an exhaustive list or database but has the ability to update and expand, it will be curated regularly.

This is what we mean by Ghosts, we are not suggesting that all stories must include a floating white sheet and an experience that lasts over long period. Most stories will last only for a few seconds, they can be a sound, a feeling of unease when you are not usually aware of such things, sounds or anything that would appear out of place. Experiences that people do not have any way of being able to explain or relate in a rational sense. So why? We want to create a map and plot of all these stories and see if there is any relation to them. It doesn’t matter if there isn’t, it is more important to document them. We arenotin a position to pass judgement on whether or not ghosts exist, that is way beyond the scope of this project. Nor would we attempt to look at this through a religious lens. Here we will take people’s stories and experiences seriously as if they are our own. If you have a story to share, we would love to hear from you. Below is a brief format of what we expect from you if you have a story.

  • What happened
  • What did you hear, see, experience
  • When did this happen?
  • How frequent, once etc?
  • Where in the London Borough of Enfield did this happen?
  • Are you willing to allow us to record you or would like us to narrate on your behalf?
  • Are you willing to use your name or would you want to be anonymous?
